About the EASL Institute

The EASL Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and promote equitable, standards-based teaching and learning.

We work to provide training, research-based guidance, an educational framework, and technological support for data-driven, outcomes-based, outstanding teaching and learning.  The students who will experience the greatest benefit from this approach are those at the greatest risk of dropping out or otherwise becoming discouraged from seeking higher education.  These are the students most poorly served by traditional methods of A-B-C-D-F grading, “averaging”, high stakes testing, and other modalities which do not build a healthy climate for teaching and learning in the classroom.

Ultimately, our goal is to make assessment into a tool to reshape teaching and learning in the classroom in the service of educational equity.

Based in Asheville, North Carolina, we work with schools locally and nationally to provide professional development, coaching, technology, and resources.  To contact us, please email peggy@easlinstitute.org
